Beavers Heading

Who are Beaver Scouts?

Beaver Scouts: 6 - 8 years old both boys and girls.
They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Beavers meet once a week for an hour during term time. Beaver Scouts meet as a Colony, that is divided into small groups called Lodges. They are led by BSL (Beaver Scout Leader) and ABSL (Assistant Beaver Scout Leader/s)

What Beaver Scouts do?

They enjoy making new friends, gaining badges for completion of activities, playing games, going on outings, visits and helping others. They like to be creative and usually look forward to being a cub. Beaver Scout activities are a combination of learning and having fun. They also get the opportunity to do beaver scout sleep overs and prepare to become Cub scouts.

Uniform
Beaver Scouts wear a full uniform, once they have been invested. Please label all clothing with your child’s name to avoid it getting mislaid.
Scouting is a uniformed organisation and the uniform tells everyone that you are a Beaver Scout. For instance, people can tell which Colony you belong to by looking at the colour of your neckerchief (green and yellow).
Beaver Scouts wear turquoise sweatshirts, navy blue activity trousers and their Group Scarf.

Awards and Badges:

Beavers can achieve a number of different badges, including  3 challenge badges based on discovery, friendship, and outdoor themes. Click the picture of the uniform (above) for the position of the badges. The highest badge in Beavers Scouts is the "Chief Scouts Bronze award"
More information about the badges beaver scouts can earn, and the requirements for each badge, can be found here from the scouting HQ website.
